Torchlight Cellars Respects the Environment

...and here's what you need to know about our labels, as a result.

1. Low Energy Printing: We print our labels on a state-of-the-art, enery-efficient printer which operates on significantly less energy than most commercial digital and off-set printers. The labels look crisp and vibrant, yet the environment is respected.

2. Minimal Use of Chemicals in Printing: To reduce the use of harsh printing chemicals, we do not varnish or laminate our labels after printing, like commercial print houses do. Therefore, our labels scuff more easily and the inks may blur if the labels get wet.

• To avoid scuffing during shipment, we carefully wrap each bottle in tissue prior to shipping. This tissue, along with 100% of our shipping materials and packaging, is re-usable and recyclable. We recommend that you keep it wrapped in tissue if you store the wine, and unwrap prior to serving.

• If you plan to put your whites in ice or if you're a drippy wine pourer, you may request that we print some or all of your labels on BOPP (a kind of plastic that looks like a paper label) instead of paper, to which the inks adhere better in the face of dampness. While not waterproof or recyclable, these labels will hold up in ice for a couple of hours (but it never takes US that long to finish a bottle of wine!). A fee of $.75 per bottle will apply for each BOPP label.

3. Recyclable Labels, Packaging and Shipping Materials. Our packaging and shipping materials are partially made from recycled materials and are 100% recyclable (unless you request BOPP labels).
